Day 7 - Work friends and Tornado

This day was crazy, like the rest of the vacation wasn't and then we add on top of it.....A TORNADO, YES, we were right by it and by the Grace of God, we survived it.  But VERY SCARY.

This day I made plans with my co-workers in Irving, I work with them on a daily basis, but never met them in person.  The site down there is huge and I couldn't believe how different things are.  I look horrible in the pictures I can't even believe I'm posting them.  Texas and my hair DID NOT get a long.  The humidity hated my hair and it hated it back.

I had such a blast meeting up with my co-workers, we had lunch and chatted for a while.

On the way home was when things got hectic, we left around 12:30 Texas time, we got lost, went East instead of West and well I am believing thats what saved us from hitting that crazy tornado head on.  It was pouring so hard, the sky was pure black and we couldn't see anything.  My Mom called, but I didn't answer, I had the GPS on my phone on and we were trying to get un-loss (is that a word?) and she called again and I answered, she said "Sierra, where are you?  There is a tornado!!!"  I immediately knew we were not in a good spot, but tried to remain calm.  I told her where we were and she said "You are right by the tornado, do not joke around with that, if you see it, hide somewhere."  We luckily, didn't have to hide, we got onto another road and got the HECK out of there and made it home safely where we watched the news and seen the tornado was in fact RIGHT BY US.

I couldn't believe we dodged that thing like that.  Bob and I stared at amazement.  Texas is huge (I think I said that already), so why was it that close to us.  I am counting my blessings still, but praying for all the people that didn't make out so well, luckily no one was hurt.

It poured and poured and I am talking pouring like I have never seen before for 2 hours straight.  We just hung out, watched the news and chatted.

Later, we took pictures and you would never know it rained, kind of funny.

So glad we did these pictures.  This was our last day here, kind of sad.  I'm not sure if we'll ever all be together again, this was a very special trip and I have amazing Grandparents.  I love them both dearly and I am so thankful to have them in my life.  I am thankful my kids got to spend a week with their Great Grandparents, I hope its something they'll remember for a long time.

I love you Grandpa and Bonnie!
