Grandpa Peavy

I never got to meet my Grandpa Peavy (My Dad's Dad) and I really had harsh feelings towards him for a long time.  The question I always had is WHY?  Why did he drink himself to death?  Why did he choose to do the things he did and miss out on his Grandkids life?  I was born 10 months after he died.

I think about everything he has missed out on and I wonder if he is ashamed of the way he lived his life.  Or does he even know what he has missed?

Well I set my feelings aside this past week when I went to visit his grave for the first time ever in my life.  Tears strolled down my face under my sunglasses as I talked to my kids about death and Ashton said "Why did he die?"  Its hard, hard to explain to a 6 year old, I remember my Dad telling me the story when I asked the same question.  I said "Sometimes people don't realize what they have done until its too late Ashton and when you are older, we'll talk!"

We sat around his grave, it was all by itself near a tree, I looked around and seen people from the 1800's and early 1900's.  And there was my Grandpa, the man I never got to meet, died at such a young age and had so much life to live.  Most of the people surrounding him died at war, died really  old or lived a good long life.  But not my Grandpa, he died at the young age of 47.

And even though all these years I've gone with unanswered question, I still have a spot of love in my heart for the man I never knew.

Until we meet someday!!

Spring Break Day 5 - Movies, Barbecue and Birthday Celebration

My Mom and I had a day together, so we got up and went to Starbucks and hit the first movie of the day for Safe Haven.  I absolutely loved it just as much as the book.  I can't decide which I like better I just liked them both.

After that, we came back and got ready for a barbecue and to celebrate my Mom's Birthday.

Lex and I had some fun with the camera.

We had burgers and salad for dinner, then a cake to celebrate my Mom's Birthday next Wednesday.

Spring Break Day 3 - Dallas World Aquarium

We ventured out early this morning to catch the train to head to Dallas.  It isn't far away by car, but traffic free going by train.

Jaxon was hanging out in this little space and Grandpa was being funny asking where Jaxon was.

Excited to ride the train.

Downtown Dallas is sooooo different, huge buildings, this one was neat, I guess there is a restaurant at the top, I'll have to check it out sometime.

This is a stork, he was hiding, I would too.....all these people there.

The start of our adventure.

Giant Anteater, so crazy looking and very interesting.

My very favorite of the entire place, this is a Pygmy Marmoset and I want to find one and bring it home.  I've always wanted a monkey and this little thing was the perfect size.

Downtown Dallas, its beautiful.

And now I'm exhausted and ready for bed, but had a blast.
