Day 4 - Oklahoma (Catfish restaurant and Turner Falls)

When I was a child we would fly in my Grandpa's plane up to this Catfish place.  The only way to get up there was to fly.  I have been wanting to go back forever,  but obviously live too far away.  So I mentioned it to my Grandpa and we made plans.  We left for Oklahoma around 9am in the morning, stopped by CVS for drinks and Ashton puked all over the store.  It was horrible.  I thought for sure he was feeling better...I WAS WRONG.

We got some nausea medication, gatorade and made our way to Oklahoma.  The drive wasn't bad at all and before I knew it we were in Oklahoma.

We first stopped at this rest stop and my Dad chased after me with that huge beetle pictured above.  It was huge, I am serious.

We then made our way to McGehee Catfish Restaurant, best catfish and fries EVER.  They also make this green tomatoe thing and its amazing.  We got stuffed after 4 plates of catfish.

After, we made our way to Turner Falls, I guess my Grandpa took my Mom here as a child.  Its amazing and I hope to go back one day with a swim suit and hiking shoes.

This place is amazing.  It has waterfalls everywhere, its so hard to describe.  You'll have to look it up online, my pictures don't do it justice.  You can swim there and walk all over the rocks in the water, they have caves, we only found a small one, I had flip flops on.  I could've stayed there all day had I had my swim suit.

Jaxon was in heaven as well as my Grandpa, they are so alike.  Ash wasn't feeling good at all and just sat eveywhere he could.  Lex on the other hand, turned into a MAJOR Diva this trip and cried everytime she got dirt on her hands.  But Great Grandpa quickly got her to go in the water, but she quickly ran out.

You had to drive over water to get in and out, it was seriously so cool.  I can't wait to take my kids back there some day.

After Turner Falls, it was getting late, so we started to make our way back.

On the way out right before the border of Texas they are building this HUGE casino, I mean its huge.  I couldn't believe it.  We were going to stop, but Ash wasn't feeling good and we were all tired.

It was such a neat experience.  I'm so glad we got to do this with my Grandparents.

Day 3 - Zoo and Hospital

I prayed Ash would wake up and want to eat and drink, but nope, I was wrong, he again wanted NOTHING.

He lounged around and slept a lot.  We made plans to go to the zoo, he wasn't throwing up, so I thought we'd be good.

The Ft. Worth zoo was so different from the Hogle zoo, the animals didn't look sick and they were very active.  We only  seen a quarter of the zoo before Ash broke out in a full blown cry because he wanted to leave.  It was extremely humid.  83% that day.

We left and went home and hung out.

At this point Ash looked horrible, had no color to him and he was really lethargic, I knew I had to get him to the doc.  So my Step-Grandma (Bonnie) and I headed to a clinic, they quickly transferred us to Cook's Children's Hospital in Fort Worth.  I was scared, not sure what was happening, but Ashton was HORRIBLE and it wasn't good.

We got back quickly and they quickly determined he was pretty dehydrated.  My phone was dying and I had no charger, because I had no plans of spending the night at the hospital.  But the nurse who took care of Ash brought me her charger.  The people at this hospital were amazing.  My Grandmother had to wear a mask as she had a kidney transplant a year ago and has no immune system.  They send in a child life specialist to talk to the child before they do an IV.  Ash hadn't had one since he was a baby.  This guy was amazing at his job, he asked Ash what he wanted to be when he grew up, Ash said a "singer".  He asked Ash his favorite song and Ash said "Dynamite song".  He found it on his phone, Ash sang it the whole time they were doing the IV, I held his hand and his Great Grandma was dancing in the corner.  She had the guy rolling and then the IV was done.  Ash said "I didn't even feel it!"  They use numbing stuff that is amazing now.

He quickly perked up and was chatting after the first 440 ML's were flushed through him.

We ended up leaving around 11:30 and got home after midnight, we were exhausted.

Day 2 - Santa Rosa, NM to Saginaw, TX

We got on the road about 8:30 and stopped a couple of times for Ash.  The poor guy was just getting worse and at this point was eating and drinking NOTHING.  I wasn't sure what to do.  We finally stopped in Childress in Texas for pepto and some other nausea medicine, I was determined to get him better...BUT nothing worked.

We were making great time and Ashton slept most of the time.  He still hadn't kept anything down and it was now over 24 hrs.

We stopped in Witchita Falls and got Ash out for FRESH air, but the humidity about killed us.

We arrived at my Grandpa's around 6pm and left to eat dinner at a Mexican restaurant called Pullido's, it was good.  Ash just layed down on two chairs.

Day 1 - Roy to Santa Rosa, NM

Our vacation didn't start too well, but we weren't about to let anything ruin our fun.  Within an hour of the car ride at 4am in the morning, Lexi peed her pants and Ashton puked in the car.  It was not fun.  Ash was sick from then on and has been since.

We made a stop in Price to top off on gas, then stopped in Moab for a break, then went into a small part of Colorado and ended up stopping in New Mexico at Shiprock for lunch.  I have to say that New Mexico is the trashiest state I've ever been in, its horrible.  The craziest thing is seeing a sign that says "Littering WILL NOT be tolerated in this state."  I'm just wondering who is NOT doing their job.

After lunch, we made our way to Albuquerque and Ash was still sick, so we decided to head an hour more down the road to Santa Rosa and call it a night.

Santa Rosa had NOTHING to help Ash tummy, not even Ginger Ale.

We stayed at the Comfort Suites, it was nice and had a pool.

Ash had a pretty rough night not being able to keep a thing down.

The next morning, we got a free full blown continental breakfast and then hit the road.
