4th of July

I love the 4th of July, there is no holiday that is better. I love celebrating our country! I love applauding all our troops here and gone. I find it hard to not think about all the men and women serving our country, the ones who are not here anymore and the ones far away from their families. Its because of them that we are able to celebrate this day with our families.

Our 4th was really low key, I wasn't feeling good at all.

My favorite part is dressing my family in red, white and blue. Sadly I didn't get a picture of all of us.

We did head to Layton for the parade, without the parade it just wouldn't be right. My kids love it also, but not the waiting part.

And the #1 reason my kids like to go is because of the candy, notice Lex with a mouth full of taffy.

The boys stayed in the front and got candy the whole time.

And we stayed back and watched.

After that, we left, I was hot and miserable. The kids were ornery and I just wasn't having it. So we headed home, I took a nap and we RELAXED. Watched some shows, barbecued, watched a really good movie and hit the bed.

I told Bob it really didn't feel like the fourth, but I loved it anyway. I didn't have to fight crowds or traffic. The one thing I missed was watching the fireworks at Layton and people watching (yes, I admitted it!) auntil they start. O'well next year.

Happy 4th EVERYONE!!!

2nd Annual Chili Cook-off

Last year we started a new thing and its turned into one of the best nights.

Every family makes Chili. We had no bean chili, regular chili, mexican chili and chicken chili. Its fun to try all the different kinds and then people who don't make chili bring dessert.

Before we left, still clean.

My 3 monkeys! Can I tell you how hard it is to get a picture of 3 kids, oh wait...if you have 2 or more, you know. Lex look this way, Ashton smile, Jax look at me. Its a joke, but worth it!!

Some of the gang...

Five pots of chili and all were VERY GOOD!!

Oh theres Ms. ATTITUDE, she is at the stage where EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING is hers. Its her drink, her toy, her snack, her food, her blanket and her EVERYTHING. She screamed a squeaky scream everytime someone touched the red car. I finally took the car away from her for good.

She got a water balloon and I was pretty sure someone was gonna get hit, but instead she held onto it for a good portion of the night.

We played lasso golf and did fireworks or in other words, we blew up stuff...

had s'mores..

snuggled with Uncle Justin

And a photo shoot to end the night.

It was a fun night and I can't wait for the years to come. Family, Friends, Fireworks and FUN, nothing beats that.

Vacation Day 1

Last night we made s'mores and they were AMAZING! I have decided Bob makes the best s'mores ever. He knows exactly how to make the marshmellow perfect without burning it.

This morning we headed up to Pine view bright and early. We stayed for 5 hrs and we are burnt out. I can't believe how high the lake is, I have never seen it that high, there is no beach. We had a little spot and the water was suprisingly warm.

and my favorite picture of the day....

Staycation...

Things have been so crazy lately and I have been looking forward to July for quite some time. Not only because I love summer, but because Bob and I both needed a break from work. We moved from Layton to Roy in May and since then, Bob has worked WAY too many hours. So we both planned to take the first week of July off. At first we wanted to go out of town, but we wanna go to Disneyland next year and Bob & I are going on a cruise in January, so we're saving money.

So for the next week, its fun around town, we have some things planned.

Lake tomorrow

2nd Annual Chili Cook-off Sunday

4th Monday, which we spend at Layton Park

Tuesday, hiking waterfall canyon

Wednesday Pool

Drive-inn possibly on Thursday

and not sure for Friday, but I don't care, I have a week off and I am going to ENJOY EVERY SINGLE BIT OF IT!!

And my monkeys are pretty excited about it. Jax finally came home from Grandma and Grandpas today. So let the vacation begin...
